About the Opportunity The Peer Support Worker (Carer) has been specifically developed for people who have been directly connected to mental health service provision via their own role as a carer for a mental health care recipient. This position provides support for carers and family members of consumers of the Community Plus team. The Peer Support Worker (Carer) works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, consumers and their families/carers to facilitate support, learning and/or provide practical assistance for action towards identified recovery goals. As a senior peer worker (carer), you will assist the carer consultant in providing discipline leadership and support to more junior carer peer support workers. What you’ll bring You're resilient, compassionate and have a whole lot of heart. Most importantly, you are committed to delivering exceptional patient‑centred care. Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve. A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management. The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Experience in the direct caring role for a family member or a close friend with mental health and psychosocial needs. A good understanding of the public mental health system, external stakeholders and carer supports. Attained or willing to work towards the Certificate IV in Mental Health (Peer Work‑Carer) or Training and experience in the Intentional Peer Support framework. Relevant certificate, diploma or degree qualifications in another field. Good knowledge of the diverse issues and perspectives that matter to mental health consumers. You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining: A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
