Business Development Manager – Alpha Scientific Alpha Scientific is at the forefront of chemical and microbiological testing, reliably providing organisations with detailed analysis of water and air quality. We are a team of highly skilled and trained scientists who work from purpose‑built, UKAS‑accredited laboratories in Sittingbourne, Slough and Manchester. Now part of the Genuit Group’s Climate Management Solutions (CMS) business unit, Alpha is pursuing ambitious growth plans. We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with Water Treatment sector experience to manage the territory of the North of England and Scotland on behalf of Alpha Scientific. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying potential new clients and supporting existing ones to expand our overall market share. The role is field‑based and requires the candidate to live within the territory. Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑5 pm (1 hour lunch). Some flexibility is required due to the nature of the role. Responsibilities Achieve the required area sales growth target through business development. Devising and implementing a robust sales plan for the region, including Water Hygiene providers, commissioning firms, hospitals, councils and other key players within the industry. Identify new business targets within the region either actively or via previous working relationships. Work closely with existing and new clients to ensure their accounts are managed to an excellent standard. Possess technical knowledge of the water hygiene industry, including laboratory testing and analysis. Assist with identifying areas of innovation that will progress the business and maintain competitiveness. Attend industry conferences as a representative of Alpha Scientific. Coordinate with the laboratory to ensure a seamless transition of accounts into Alpha Scientific. Deliver product and service awareness presentations to clients. Manage time effectively by organising appointments in advance. Maintain sales pipeline data and provide regular reports to the business. Participate in all required internal and external sales meetings, digitally or in person. Promote social media engagement across the candidate’s network. Qualifications & Experience Experience in an account management or business development role within the water hygiene or related sector. Proven track record of exceeding sales targets on a regular basis. Demonstrated ability to run a sales territory successfully. Strong understanding of the water hygiene industry. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage people at all organisational levels. Superb organisational and time‑management skills. Dynamic, resilient, and able to work autonomously. Confident in all Office 365 applications. Person with a strong work ethic and drive, capable of building lasting relationships. Benefits 25 days holiday. Performance‑based bonus.
