Contract & Compliance Specialist

This Queensland state department seeks a detail‑oriented and proactive Contract and Compliance Specialist to join the Contract Management Team. The role ensures high‑quality facilities maintenance and operational services across departmental schools. You will conduct regular onsite inspections, verify delivery of facilities management (FM) and cleaning services, and ensure compliance with contractual requirements. Your work will support risk reduction, contract performance, and value‑for‑money outcomes through clear, evidence‑based reporting and strong stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Plan and conduct school‑based inspections using departmental checklists, standards, and service specifications across cleaning, buildings, grounds, and assets. Witness and verify FM, maintenance, and lifecycle works, including servicing, repairs, and rectification activities. Identify and elevate issues and non‑conformances, assess risks, track rectification progress, and prepare concise evidence‑based reports. Monitor contractor performance against KPIs, response timeframes, and other contract requirements; contribute to performance discussions and abatements where required. Validate and analyze asset and work‑order data, reconciling onsite findings with system records and supporting continuous improvement of data quality. Coordinate onsite access and maintain strong communication with principals, school staff, FM operators, contractors, project co‑representatives, and internal stakeholders. Maintain disciplined information and records management in line with departmental standards. Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in facilities/asset management, building services, engineering, surveying, or contract management. Demonstrated experience in site‑based condition assessments and FM/maintenance oversight with strong evidence‑based reporting. Working knowledge of contract facilities maintenance service contracts, including Deeds, Service Specifications, KPIs, and response timeframes. Proficiency with FM/asset management systems and Microsoft Excel. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work autonomously across multiple sites. Mandatory Requirements Current Blue Card (Working with Children) Current open driver’s license Ability and willingness to travel regularly across the Sunshine Coast, Logan, Ipswich, and Gold Coast Capacity to undertake extensive onsite inspections (including walking long distances across school grounds) Desirable Trade or technical background (electrical, mechanical, building) Experience with asset standards and maintenance guidelines This role will close on 21/11.
