Overview We’re looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone’s journeys better. We have several career opportunities within our Catering team based at our facilities at Somerton. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for producing food items according to the approved specifications and recipes. Responsibilities Responsible for the preparation and cooking of food items according to approved specifications and recipes. To ensure that food preparation is made on time within designated schedules. Check all materials and foodstuffs ensuring that they are used before spoilage. Keep all food preparation areas clean at all times. Supervising tasks being performed by Catering Assistants and unqualified chefs in designated section. Maintain efficient sanitation services, garbage disposal and chilling systems that comply with the regulations and requirements of the Gate Gourmet HACCP plan. Compile reports and documents as required. Promote a safe work environment at all times. Qualifications and experience Experience working in a bulk cooking environment is highly desirable. Experience working in a food manufacturing department is preferable but not essential. Vocational training in culinary and related hygiene course is highly desirable. Good communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to work across a 7-day roster. Working conditions Please note: This is not a 24-hour operation and there are no split shifts.
