We are seeking a Purchasing Officer who will be responsible for conducting purchasing activities for Kongsberg Defence Australia.

Main Tasks:
  • Researching potential suppliers and distributors in order to provide information to the Supply Chain Manager (SCM).
  • Conducting initial contact with potential suppliers and compiling supplier information.
  • Using the JOSCAR system for sourcing potential suppliers and accessing fit for business due diligence information.
  • Maintaining the supplier directory from completed supplier documentation.
  • Sending requests for quotes for Commercial/Military off the shelf items (COTS/MOTS) and Build to Print parts.
  • Comparing and evaluating suppliers in terms of price, quality and service delivery and providing information and recommendations to the Senior Procurement Officer (SPO) & SCM for evaluation.
  • Entering order details into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Maintaining and developing productive relationships with suppliers including meetings around KPI's, incidents and order backlogs.
  • Understanding project requirements and translating the requirements into sourcing requirements and scopes of work.
  • Preparing and updating purchase orders for approval and provide updates on purchasing progress and activities including any changes required.
  • Providing weekly updates on supply chain activities to the Program Managers.
  • Tracking orders through the inventory management system.
  • Management of all documentation related to purchasing activities.
  • Assisting with configuration and maintenance of data sets in Excel.
  • Follow up on invoice queries against purchase orders.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Previous experience undertaking purchasing activities.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within Defence or Defence Industry.
  • Must be an Australian citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance.
  • Must be able to access information controlled under the US International Traffic of Arms Regulations (ITAR).
