Our Development Assessment and Sustainability (DAS) team within NSW Planning are currently seeking to appoint an Executive Director, Housing and Key Sites Assessment.

As the Executive Director, Housing and Key Sites Assessment, you will oversee the assessment and determination of major, complex applications for a range of state significant developments and high-profile projects. This includes social and affordable housing, transport-oriented developments, and significant regional developments. You will need to ensure that these assessments meet the diverse needs of stakeholders and communities, contributing to viable and sustainable development outcomes.

You will also be responsible for developing and implementing integrated strategies for assessment process, including governance and risk management, to support the significant development projects. This will involve leading multidisciplinary teams, providing strategic advice, and setting performance goals aligned with departmental objectives.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated planning executive with extensive experience in overseeing application assessments and determinations for development projects. You will also possess a strong background in project management and have proven experience in implementing strategies to address planning and development issues.

It is essential that you are an exceptional communicator who can successfully engage with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, councils, industry and community groups, to achieve desired project outcomes. You will also exhibit exceptional leadership abilities and be capable of managing and inspiring multidisciplinary teams whilst fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

Essential requirements

  • Degree qualification in a planning related discipline or equivalent relevant experience
  • Significant knowledge of the workings of government and in-depth knowledge and experience working with applicable legislation and regulations
