The Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountain Research (IGF) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW),

of global change processes (climate change and globalization) in mountain regions across the globe. IGF is

**PROJECT SCIENTIST POSITION (F/M/X)**
(part-time, 20h per week)

in the European Interreg Alpine Space research project TranStat (Transitions to Sustainable Ski Tourism in

the Alps of Tomorrow). The position is for an initial period of one year, with the possibility of an extension

to up to two years in total. Starting date is no later than **September 01st, 2023**.

**Your tasks**:

- Co-developing, writing and editing the TranStat Transition Cookbook - a publication aimed at

supporting Stakeholders in setting up Living Labs and carrying out transdisciplinary research and

development for sustainable futures in mountain resorts of the European Alps
- Co-writing scientific publications and communication material
- Communicating with project partners on a regular basis
- Attending project meetings and stakeholder workshops (online and on-site)
- Supporting the project team in administrative tasks; e.g., reporting of expenditures in the Joint

Electronic Monitoring System (JEMS) and co-supervising the six-monthly audit (First Level Control)

**Your profile**:

- Master degree (or higher) in cultural geography or environmental anthropology or similar with

demonstrated ability for excellent research
- Highly motivated researcher with a strong interest in the regional geography of the European Alps

and a proven record of field research carried out in mountain environments
- Affinity with working in a transdisciplinary setting and the TranStat project themes
- Strong background in socioeconomic Alpine research (focusing on settlement, population, and/or

tourism development), landscape research, and/or human-environmental research (outstanding
- Excellent verbal and written English skills. Additional knowledge of Alpine languages (especially,

French, Italian, German, and Slovenian) is a plus
- Social and didactic abilities to communicate research results to practitioners of diverse professional

backgrounds and the general public

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 21 531,72 based on the salary scheme of the OeAW, depending
