The Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the Scientific Director of the institute. The appointment is for a term of five years, with the possibility for a reappointment. The salary will reflect the scope of duties and is based on remunerations in comparable positions at universities and non-university research institutions.

**Job profile**:

- Connecting and inspiring leadership style and a successful career at internationally renowned universities or independent research institutions, with experience in the scientific management of third-party funds projects, including commissioned research projects;
- A high level of personal integrity and commitment to scientifical rigor, as well as the ability to build positive relationships with national and international partners;
- Excellent communication and management skills;
- Very good command of German and English.

Desirable would be:

- Experience in interdisciplinary research contexts;
- A sound understanding of Austrian and European institutional structures.
