The Ellis group uses functional genetics and cell biological approaches to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern growth control in complex tissues during development and disease. We seek an experienced technician to be the point person for day-to-day laboratory management and to provide key technical support for ongoing research projects.
**About the position**
The role includes ordering and maintaining lab inventory, liaising with vendors, as well as new lab member onboarding and training on common lab protocols. Technical skills involved in the position include basic molecular biology techniques (ie. bacterial culture, RNA/DNA isolation, plasmid prep, restriction cloning, genotyping PCR etc.), mammalian cell culture, lentivirus production and tissue histology. Opportunity to be more actively involved scientifically is available if time and interest allow. This is a full-time position; the possibility of contracts with fewer working hours can be discussed (20 hours minimum). The initial contract is for nine
months, but this may be extended for multiple years. Salary is in accordance with FWF guidelines.- Hold a B.Sc./M.Sc. in Molecular Biology (or equivalent vocational training)-
- Have at least one year of prior laboratory experience,-
- Past mammalian cell culture experience is preferred, but not mandatory-
- Have professional proficiency in English and be comfortable in German**Application**
