**About you**

You are an experienced scientist/engineer who is keen to develop innovative technologies and sustainable solutions for the global technology leader in refractories. You can channel your creativity into solutions for ambitious technical challenges and bring ideas from proof of principle to implementation. You are open-minded, pro-active and enjoy working with highly skilled colleagues in diverse teams. Your project management and social skills typically make you a valuable team member or leader.

**In addition, you have**:

- Higher technical education (MSc or PhD in either physics, chemistry, mineralogy, material science, or similar course of studies)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in management of technical or innovation projects
- Experience in the refractory or similar industries
- R&D experience in the field of materials science, minerals, recycling, or engineering
- Experience in leading collaborations and funded projects will be considered an asset
- Proficient in English; German will be considered an asset

- Used to work independently towards a set objective

**About the job**
You will initiate, manage, and execute projects and programs for the development of innovative solutions and new technologies of strategic importance such as sustainability. In our team of experienced project managers and specialists we are generating and fostering ideas aiming at disruptive innovation. You will be working at RHI Magnesita’s European R&D Hub in an environment of refractory experts and product developers with strong connections to marketing, production, and innovation. You will pursue projects from laboratory scale until pilot scale on material and process development. In post-Covid19 times you will have the opportunity to travel for conferences, collaborations with other RHIM R&D and production sites as well as external partners up to 20% of your time.

**Your tasks will include**:

- You actively seek for the latest and most advanced technologies for refractories and adjacent products
- Scouting and developing ideas and technologies as solutions for strategic technical challenges
- Active communication and targeted transfer of the generated novel know-how
- Managing and participating in projects from early proof of concept until implementation in cross-functional teams
- Intense collaboration with colleagues from different functions worldwide as well as academic and industrial partners
- Leading strategic programs in innovation and technology
