About us TWH Advisory is partnering with a privately owned Australian retailer boasting a multi‑brand strategy and over 50 years of brand heritage. With 750 FTE, 120+ stores and a diversified global supply chain, we seek a GM Technology & Innovation to join the business in this newly created role. Operating from a corporate head office in Prahran (inc. onsite parking), the role will be an important member of the Executive team and report directly into the COO & shareholders. About the role The GM Technology & Innovation will lead and shape the technological direction for the business with a project and program management focus. This includes executing a forward‑thinking technology strategy that drives AI‑enabled innovation, scalability, and operational efficiency across e‑commerce, in‑store retail, CRM and digital platforms. They will play a critical role in delivering business‑wide systems and initiatives that improve customer experience and overall performance, leveraging retail industry expertise and emerging technology trends. The role will oversee a team of 20 across e‑commerce, project management, infrastructure & support, customer service and CRM platform teams. The role blends strategic vision, operational discipline and a passion for driving digital transformation as a subject‑matter expert with executive team peers. The successful candidate will excel in a team environment, partnering effectively with external vendors, shareholders, service providers and other stakeholders in the national ecosystem. They will also be highly pro‑active, independent, show good judgement and be capable of executing their role with minimal instruction and supervision. About you To be successful in securing this role, the GM will have: Tertiary qualifications appropriate to a leadership role of this nature. 8‑10+ years of executive‑level tech leadership experience. Industry experience within retail, e‑commerce, or consulting services with specialisation in these portfolios. Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise‑wide digital transformation initiatives, including system integrations, data architecture improvements and e‑commerce strategy. Hands‑on leadership in AI‑driven initiatives such as predictive analytics, machine learning tools, intelligent automation and personalisation platforms. Strong understanding of retail technologies including POS systems, ERP, inventory management and supply chain, CRM and omnichannel integrations. Proven ability to make strategic build‑vs‑buy decisions, manage SaaS providers, and negotiate commercial technology contracts. An understanding of the challenges and complexities in large privately owned businesses. Refined leadership skills to coach and mentor a team of 20 staff. Highest standards of professionalism and personal presentation as a representative of a high‑quality brand. Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop rapport instantly with people. Strong time and project management skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks in a highly diverse business.
