About The Role ActivateUTS has recently created a new position to support our growth plans and drive best practice solutions within the facilities and property services arena. We are seeking an experienced Facilities & Property Manager to oversee a multi‑site venue portfolio, ensuring high standards of maintenance, compliance, and operational excellence and performance. In this key leadership role, you will manage property leases, capital works, preventative maintenance programs, risk, contractors, budgets and day‑to‑day facilities operations. You’ll also lead our facilities and property team, support event setup needs, and work closely with UTS Facilities, Property, Security and external vendors to deliver safe, cost‑effective and well‑maintained environments. The position will also maintain service level agreements, actively supporting the General Manager, Commercial Operations, manage the property lease agreements and processes, ensuring all property plans and facilities maintenance requests for ActivateUTS, Activate Gym, RMSH, Moore Park and Haberfield are actioned within agreed timeframes and according to budget. Key Responsibilities Property Management Manage, review and negotiate lease agreements with internal and external stakeholders. Align cost allocations to lease terms (base vs tenant obligations). Lead capital works and commercial fit‑out projects from planning to completion. Prepare basic plans and specifications for fit‑outs, refurbishments and maintenance. Develop annual preventative maintenance schedules, reports and project plans. Manage and forecast capital works budgets and long‑term repair/replacement needs. Facilities Management Oversee all facilities operations across ActivateUTS venues and sites (including Activate Gym, RMSH, Moore Park and Haberfield). Manage contractors and service level agreements for maintenance and property services. Conduct inspections, coordinate routine and emergency repairs, and resolve urgent facility issues. Lead and supervise the Handyman/Facilities & Property Assistant; support event setup as required. Manage and address minor repairs in‑house when feasible, completing hands‑on maintenance tasks where capable. Develop and maintain accurate property and maintenance records. Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with UTS Facilities, Security, Property, and Project teams as the primary ActivateUTS representative. Liaise with cleaning providers to ensure adequate service delivery for assigned areas. Reporting & Budgeting Manage maintenance activity logs through Zendesk and provide monthly reports. Prepare business cases for fit‑outs, refurbishments and sustainability initiatives. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, systems and equipment. Support annual budgeting and monthly reporting for capital works and property expenditure. Monitor yearly planned budgets for cleaning, property and facilities services. Workplace Health & Safety Ensure compliance with WHS Act 2011 and UTS WHS procedures. Lead vendor onboarding with WHS requirements. Maintain safety records, risk assessments, fire safety, asbestos and chemical compliance. Ensure staff use PPE and follow relevant WHS controls. Train staff in WHS and administer security systems. About You – Essential Skills & Experience 5+ years’ experience in facilities, maintenance or property services management Qualifications in building, property or facilities management Strong technical understanding of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems and equipment Experience managing commercial fit‑outs and capital works Experience negotiating leases, contracts and service level agreements Strong knowledge of maintenance compliance, contractor engagement and WHS legislation Experience managing budgets for maintenance, fit‑outs, refurbishments and capital works Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills High attention to detail; strong time management and problem‑solving ability Experience developing preventative maintenance schedules Ability to identify, report and implement WHS risks and controls Strong MS Office/Outlook skills Supervisory/team leadership experience Conflict resolution, negotiation and influencing skills Current driver’s licence Desirable Trade qualification (plumbing, electrical, carpentry) Why Join Us Be Part Of a Vibrant And Purpose‑driven Organisation At The Heart Of UTS, Creating Safe, Functional And Engaging Spaces That Support Students, Staff And The Broader Community.
