The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) appointed under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic.). We represent the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Traditional Owners of Melbourne and the Greater Melbourne region, and we take great pride in our responsibility for protecting and managing Aboriginal cultural heritage objects and places on Wurundjeri Country. The Corporation offers a range of cultural services including environmental land management, cross-cultural education, traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremonies, research, and cultural consultations. Full-time, ongoing – Abbotsford head office, Gathering Places and on-Country locations About You You are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander professional who blends cultural knowledge and evidence-based wellbeing practice. You have worked within Aboriginal communities designing and coordinating wellbeing, health‐promotion or employee‑engagement programs, and you’re comfortable advising both Elders and senior executives. Your formal qualifications might include Aboriginal Health, Community Services, HR, Psychology or a related field – but we also recognise equivalent Community‑based learning. Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid (or willingness to obtain) and strong written/oral communication skills across cultures are essential. About the Role The Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an inaugural Wellbeing Specialist to promote and support the holistic wellbeing of Elders, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung community and employees. Reporting to the Education Unit Managers, you will lead the end‑to‑end wellbeing agenda by developing and implementing culturally safe, culturally strengthening wellbeing programs, resources, and initiatives. One week you might co‑design a suite of on‑Country healing days, the next you are yarning with staff returning after Sorry Business to tailor short‑term adjustments; and every month you review participation data and Community feedback to refine program content. All work is grounded in Aboriginal Social & Emotional Wellbeing frameworks and the guiding principles of holistic care, cultural safety and self‑determination as set out in our Strategy Handbook. This role ensures that the organisation fosters a culturally safe, positive, and supportive work environment that enables Elders, Community and employees to thrive personally, professionally, and culturally. Key Responsibilities Co‑design and implement initiatives with Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elders that support the physical, mental, emotional and cultural dimensions of health Align with Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung values and organisational goals and meet the diverse needs of Aboriginal and non‑Aboriginal employees. Maintain strong connections with the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung community to ensure programs reflect community needs and priorities. Support the continuous improvement of wellbeing programs by monitoring participation trends, applying culturally appropriate evaluation methods and providing regular reports and recommendations to senior management and the Board of Elders. Provide first‑point cultural support and confidential advice to Elders and employees. Build relationships and referral pathways with ACCOs and other Aboriginal‑led services to make referrals and share specialised wellbeing resources. Strengthen organisational cultural awareness by creating resources and campaigns on holistic health and wellbeing topics from an Aboriginal perspective, including cultural identity, community connection, work‑life balance, and resilience. Provide regular communication about available wellbeing resources to employees. Review and enhance policies (e.g. cultural leave, flexible work, OH&S) so they reflect current best practice and legislative obligations.
