Due to significant growth, UGL's Manufacturing and Maintenance business are on the search for a highly experienced customer-centric & energetic Business Development professional to join the Component Solutions Mining team. The role can be based in Brisbane or Newcastle. 


About your role

As the Business Development Manager – Mining, you will play a pivotal role in the maintenance and growth of UGL’s Mining clientele in Queensland. The role requires you to support and foster business growth by identifying future prospects, securing new contracts, and ensuring the seamless execution of existing agreements whilst meeting commercial obligations.

Reporting to the National Client Leader - Mining, the role focuses on Mining contracts, projects, and spearheads sales and business development initiatives tailored to this industry. A key aspect of this role is to capitalize on UGL's existing capabilities in component overhaul, particularly in Queensland, to bolster the company's OHV Unit Exchange (UTEX) program within the Mining sector.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain a large industry network of customers, actively seeking to secure new and repeat business by developing and maintaining strong relationships with our Mining passenger clients including Yancoal, Glencore, New Hope, Idemitsu, Peabody
  • Define the sales forecast and financial forecast cycle for each client and develop strategic account plans to achieve the forecast through innovative and value add solution development
  • Support the strategy for our QLD Mining accounts including identification of target market segments, product definitions, current competitive position including pricing, marketing and route to market
  • Be hands-on in developing large scale strategic sales opportunities across assigned key customers
  • Lead strategic tenders for the business
  • Report on sales performance including pipeline and contract performance metrics


About you

You will have proven experience in a Business Development or Sales role gained in the Mining, Civil infrastructure or Construction environment.

Other key skills and experience required will include: 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment
  • Proof of sales growth, sector expansion and leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally
  • Must be customer focused, team oriented, accountable and results driven
  • Strong knowledge of heavy mobile equipment (Komatsu fleet) and maintenance practices is desirable
