Share Your Passion for Wine on Tasmania’s Waterfront Mures Upper Deck is Tasmania’s premier seafood dining destination, renowned for its “hook to plate” philosophy and commitment to sustainability. We’re seeking an experienced Sommelier to be our wine ambassador – delighting guests, inspiring staff and elevating the dining experience. What you’ll do: Create a warm, relaxed and approachable environment where guests feel comfortable exploring wine. Listen to guest preferences and recommend wines that suit their taste, menu choices and budget. Proactively engage diners to encourage increased beverage spend in a timely, unobtrusive manner. Provide exceptional wine service – pouring, topping up glasses, offering additional wine at the right time. Work with the Venue Manager to select, review and balance the wine list, focusing on Tasmanian producers. Maintain the highest standards of wine presentation, storage and service equipment. Contribute ideas on wine promotions and guest experience enhancements. Coach and mentor FOH staff in wine knowledge (food and wine pairing), and service techniques. Uphold ASA, workplace health & safety and food safety procedures. About you: Experienced Sommelier or senior FOH professional with strong wine knowledge and passion for hospitality. Excellent guest engagement and upselling skills. Strong knowledge of wine storage, presentation and service standards. Ability to coach and inspire FOH staff. Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification. Formal wine qualifications (e.g. WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers) or equivalent experience highly regarded. Lead and shape the wine program at Tasmania’s flagship seafood restaurant. Work with an exceptional menu, premium wine list and passionate team.
